SK uses private land only
SK’s standard service places skips on suitable private property. That might be your driveway or a private yard with permission for use and safe delivery access. We do not place skips on public roads, pavements or verges. Check the position before booking, not after the vehicle arrives.
A road permit does not change our service
Government guidance distinguishes skips entirely on private land from skips on a public road, which require a licence or permit. This does not mean every skip company offers road placement. SK’s own private-land-only policy applies to your booking regardless of the general permit process.
For the general rules, see GOV.UK’s skip licence guidance. For your SK booking, follow the placement conditions in our hire terms.
Check shared and managed spaces
A space beside your home is not necessarily yours to use for a skip. Shared drives, communal parking, rented premises and managed developments can need permission from the owner or responsible person. Make sure other people can still reach their property and that the skip will not obstruct the public footway.
Access is a separate check
Even a private driveway can be unsuitable if the approach is too narrow, obstructed or difficult for the delivery vehicle. Tell Chris about gates, slopes, low cables and tight turning space. Read our delivery guide before arranging the date.
What if you cannot keep a skip?
Call Chris to discuss the location before ordering. A wait-and-load visit may be worth discussing if there is a suitable private loading area and you can have the material ready. It must be specifically agreed and is not a workaround for an unsuitable road location.
Confirm the position, then book
Once you have a suitable private space, permission to use it and a workable approach, choose the size for the material. Use the full delivery postcode when you book online. If any of those details are uncertain, a short conversation first is the best next step.
